Great Barton Village Hall March 2008 - Barton Players triumphed again with their performance of Aladdin to packed audiences. Even better than last year which was excellent! Overheard, "more enjoyable than the Theatre Royal's Christmas Pantomime." All the cast were very strong including the children's contribution which seemed larger than previous years with speaking and solo singing parts.
Producer Iris Sawyer pulled out all the stops with the production. There were sophisticated special effects explosions, lighting and sound from the back stage team of Peter Turner, Bill Charnaud and Bryann Ward. Live music was provided by Musical Director Michael Phillips on keyboard and Mick Underwood on drums. The Dame, Widow Twanky, was played by Ken Sawyer supported by Ben Young as Wishee Washee. Aladdin was played by Josie Harrington and Chris Fielder played Abanazer. There was plenty of audience participation with hissing and booing at the appropriate times. A really good evening, I can't wait until next year.
